WikiEnergy was created by Andrew and David Jackson, a father-son team of mechanical engineers.

Andrew Jackson is a recently retired Senior Scientific Advisor from ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company in Annandale, NJ. He has spent his career learning how to maximize fuel efficiency through tribology and lubrication, and in doing so has developed a comprehensive picture of our petroleum-based economy. Andy served as President of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers from 1995 to 1996, and was a member of the Board of Directors from 1983 to 2000. He is currently Editor of Tribology Transactions, a position he was appointed to in 2002. His research on elastohydrodynamic lubrication, rolling contact fatigue, engine lubrication and synthetic lubricants has resulted in 15 patents and over 40 papers, with four best paper awards. Andy was recently recognized for his achievements through induction into the National Academy of Engineering. His election citation is:

For contributions to tribology and research in elastohydrodynamic lubrication, fatigue, machine efficiency, automotive emissions, and synthetic lubricants.

Andy earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College in London, and will be starting a second career at the University of Pennsylvania as a Professor of Practice in January 2010.

David Jackson is currently working as an inventor at a medical device incubator in Silicon Valley, CA. He graduated from Stanford University in 2007 with a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, concentrating on Design Methodology. Dave is a lot younger than Andy, and so doesn’t have quite as many accolades piled up yet.
